This thesis deals with the eschatological thought of Jürgen Moltmann. Eschatology, for a long time perceived only as an extended arm of dogmatic theology, in the thought of Jürgen Moltmann is presented as one of the backbones of Christian faith, hope and church doctrine. This paper consists of five chapters, two of which (the third and fourth) form one thought unit. The first part talks about eschatology today, the understanding of eschatology throughout the history of the Church and what eschatology includes generaly. The second part talks about eschatology in the historical context of the promise to Israel and about the differences in the understanding of eschatology between prophecy and apocalyptic. The third part sheds light on eschatology as a Christological given, talks about Jesus' condemnation, passion and death as well as about the religious and socio-historical context in which Jesus was crucified. The fourth part, based on the previous one, talks about the formal-historical and kergimatic approach to the resurrection, about the faith of the first Christian community, the continuity between the crucified and resurrected Christ, and about Christ's resurrection, which gives clear characteristics to Christian eschatology. The last part talks about eschatology within the framework of church doctrine and about Christian hope within the Church.
